Measurement of Detection Thresholds of Interaural Time and Intensity Differences
نویسنده
چکیده
Localization of sound source in the horizontal plane employs the evaluation of interaural time and intensity differences. The precision of the evaluating system depends on a number of parameters: frequency, overall intensity and deviation of the source from the medial plane. A preliminary psychophysical experiment was conducted to explore the intensity dependence of just noticeable time and intensity differences for the sound sources out of the medial plane.

The influence of interaural stimulus uncertainty on binaural signal detection.
This paper investigated the influence of stimulus uncertainty in binaural detection experiments and the predictions of several binaural models for such conditions. Masked thresholds of a 500-Hz sinusoid were measured in an NrhoSpi condition for both running and frozen-noise maskers using a three interval, forced-choice (3IFC) procedure. The nominal masker correlation varied between 0.64 and 1, ...

This paper investigates the relative contribution of various interaural cues to binaural unmasking in conditions with an interaurally in-phase masker and an out-of-phase signal (MoS pi). By using a modified version of multiplied noise as the masker and a sinusoid as the signal, conditions with only interaural intensity differences (IIDs), only interaural time differences (ITDs), or combinations...
متن کاملAuditory Lateralization Ability in Children with (Central) Auditory Processing Disorder
Objectives: The aim of the present study was to assess the auditory lateralization ability in children with (central) auditory processing disorder. Methods: Participants were divided in two groups: 15 children with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (8-10 years) and 80 normal children (8-11 years) from both genders with pure-tone air-conduction thresholds better than 20 dB HL bilaterally a...
متن کاملThe Relationship Between Intensity Coding and Binaural Sensitivity in Adults With Cochlear Implants.
OBJECTIVES Many bilateral cochlear implant users show sensitivity to binaural information when stimulation is provided using a pair of synchronized electrodes. However, there is large variability in binaural sensitivity between and within participants across stimulation sites in the cochlea. It was hypothesized that within-participant variability in binaural sensitivity is in part affected by l...
متن کاملThe extent to which a position-based explanation accounts for binaural release from informational masking.
Detection was measured for a 500 Hz tone masked by noise (an "energetic" masker) or sets of ten randomly drawn tones (an "informational" masker). Presenting the maskers diotically and the target tone with a variety of interaural differences (interaural amplitude ratios and/or interaural time delays) resulted in reduced detection thresholds relative to when the target was presented diotically ("...
